Tribes (TLC) Course Certificate Training - suitable for Primary & Post Primary Teachers
Tribes is a cooperative teaching and learning process that has been used by teachers and schools
around the world for decades. The programme is focused on building the social and emotional
skills of pupils and supporting wellbeing in the classroom and wider school community, using
evidence-based cooperative learning strategies.
This course is a 24-hour (four-days) hands-on experiential, highly interactive learning experience
for teachers at all levels, that equips them to establish and maintain emotionally safe and
collaborative learning environments.
You will experience over 40 learning strategies and evaluate how to apply them to your teaching
context and consider how these can support wellbeing and inclusion in the curriculum and the
classroom. The Basic Course prepares you to:
• Develop emotionally safe and positive learning environments
• Apply the Tribes process in your teaching context to promote wellbeing and inclusion
• Teach students specific social and collaborative skills for social development
• Use the Tribes Agreements to establish a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom
• Ask a variety of reflection questions to increase learning, metacognition, and selfawareness
• Apply knowledge of the stages of group development to select appropriate cooperative,
social and emotional learning strategies
On successful completion of the four-day course you will receive Basic Tribes Course Certification
